and Insured Professional Fishing Guide
"Capt. KJ" I have over 30 years of
experience fishing the crystal river back country. Tracking and catching
redfish and trout in the crystal clear water of the flats is what I live
for. Once you experience this breath taking action and beautiful
surroundings of the back country you won't want to leave. I've fished all my
life and although some days are better than others I strive to make ever day
better than the day before and give my clients a back country fishing
charter they won't soon forget..
Here is a brief description on how and where I catch
these fish.
Gag Grouper,
The grouper fishing is excellent off
the coast of Homosassa. I catch grouper in 5 to 12 feet of water 2 to 9 miles
off shore well within the view of land. Live pinfish and cut bait is used along
with chumming heavily with cut sardines and a chum bag, fishing hard bottom and
rock structures 22" to 40" fish on average. 8- 30 Lbs
Redfish
I
primarily use jig's or top water plugs to find redfish and then offer up a jumbo
shrimp on a popping cork, pinfish and cut bait on the bottom 18" to 35" fish on
average. 4 - 20 Lbs
Sea Trout

I
also flats fish the bays and back waters for big gator trout. Trout can be
caught year round all thru Crystal River and Homosassa except February (closed
season) I fish trout with a jig or a live shrimp on a popping cork or a jig
under a popping cork 15" to 24" fish on average 2 - 7 Lbs.
.
Cobia "Ling"
Cobia are my favorite, the
fight is like no other. Cobia average from 20 to 100 lbs and are usually caught
between spring and summer months and on light to medium tackle the fight is
great. we sight cast cobia during the spring as they follow the migrating bait
fish. we also catch cobia while fishing for grouper they seem to like the
same rocks and structure that grouper do cut bait and live pinfish are the
ticket. 33" to 70" fish on average 25 - 100 Lbs
Spanish Mackerel

The spring run for bait fish is hot
action for Spanish Mackerel. March thru June the bait pods move up and down the
coast and the schools of mackerel are in the tens of thousands. we sight fish
these as well the action is fast and furious and the Mac's go any where from 3
to 10 lbs. 12" to 30" fish on average.
